Return to Micromanaging – For Generation-X, micromanaging was the 8th Deadly Sin, but most MIllennials need and want crystal clear expectations, structure, guidelines, direction, and a constant sense of connection and progress. Stay in very close touch without “handholding.” Here is what you can do:
1. Don’t count on open-door policies of the past; you have to be more proactive than in the past
2. Put standing weekly 1-on-1s on the calendar to check progress, offer help and redirect if needed
3. Conduct informal check-ins daily, some more frequently than others and frame them as coaching sessions to learn on the job and keep things on track
